As the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens is nearly upon us—just a few days under two months—it’s hard for someone like me to not get excited about something like this. I have yet to read Tomalin’s biography of Dickens, but I hear it’s very good. I hope that I can read it by February, but since I still have two novels by Dickens to finish and Gissing’s biography left to read—not to mention that most of December will be used reading Dickens’ Christmas novels—I may not be able to get to it. We’ll see. Her interview really makes me want to read it though.
